People will share 60 eco-friendly minutes around the world during Earth Hour

An Earth Hour poster hangs in Colonial School.

PLANET EARTH — On March 31, 2012, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, people worldwide will turn off their lights as an action against global warming. The event is called Earth Hour.

This event started in 2008 in Australia. Hundreds of millions of people participated in 2011. As you may know, pollution has created a hole in our ozone layer.

There are signs up in Colonial School telling kids about Earth Hour, and many students plan to participate. You can read more about Earth Hour here.
