Soop Theatre production of ‘Wizard of Oz’ this weekend features Colonial kids

PELHAM MANOR — The Soop Theatre Co. is doing a play called “The Wizard Of Oz.” The show will be at the Manor Club on May 19 at 7 pm, May 20 at 2 pm and 7 pm and May 21 at 2 pm.

The director is Mr. Paul Romanello, the musical director is Mr. Dan Radzikowski and the choreography is by Ms Lena Gilbert. Students in grades three through eight are doing the play and they come from all over Westchester County. The cast rehearsed for four weeks.

The “Wizard of Oz” is about a girl named Dorothy who gets stuck in a twister. Her house is lifted into the air and lands in a magical land called Oz. There Dorothy meets Glinda, a good witch.

Glinda tells her that the only way to get back home is to see the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy gets there with the help of her friends Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man, but she also has a foe in this story, the Wicked Witch of the West.
