All About Tyumen, Russia: Cat statues, malls and cars

A Russian Orthodox cathedral in Tyumen.

TYUMEN, RUSSIA — Tyumen is a medium-sized city that has lots of places to visit and things to see.

There is a statue for Siberian cats that saved St. Petersburg from mice that were eating all the food and paintings after World War II. All the cats in St. Petersburg died because of the war.

There are many malls in Tyumen, so if you want clothes from Russia, you go to a mall.

And transportation is different here. There are mostly buses and vans you go in to get around the city. There are not a lot of American cars, but there are a lot of Ladas, which are made by a Russian car company.

Everything is a short distance so you can walk to all your needs.

I was born in Tyumen.
