Fourth graders turn knowledge of machines and motion into recycled racers

The winners for speed.
FOURTH GRADE CLASSROOMS — The fourth grade has been studying simple machines, friction, gravity and motion. Using the information they learned, they made vehicles of recycled materials that will race this afternoon.
Students were encouraged to work together.
The size of the vehicle had to be small enough to fit in a shoebox and light enough to carry to school. The vehicles will be measured for distance and speed.
There is also a parent division, where parents could make their own vehicles and compete against each other.

Great article, Emilia! I was very impressed with the recycled racers I saw being brought to school this morning. Can’t wait to read the follow-up report on how well everyone did!
Bravo
Incredible!
