COLONIAL SCHOOL — Colonial exceeded it goal in the holiday toy drive, collecting 142 toys when 62 were sought. That means each child received two toys.

“The toy drive went very well,” said Timmy Gallivan.

Aviv Eliezer was the leader of this project, or the chairperson. He said though the school exceeded its goal, there was one problem. They have too many toys for older kids.

The toy drive started on Nov. 19 and ended on Dec. 10. During those weeks, the toy drive committee worked hard to get toys for the children in the Mount Vernon Head Start program in time for the deadline.

Zoe Helmers said, “The kids that we are giving these toys to are going to be very happy with them, but they might find the toys hard to use because they are mostly for older kids.”
