Groundhog said six more weeks of winter (and now only three more days)

COLONIAL — The groundhog told us we need to go through another six weeks of winter.

The first Groundhog Day was in the United Stated in 1887. Nowadays, on Feb. 2, Punxsutawney Phil is the groundhog people look to for the word on how much winter there will be. Phil said we will have six more weeks of winter.

Vijay Ranganathan (4G) said spring is better because “you get to play soccer more. I don’t trust groundhogs.” He said he “would die” if there were six more weeks of winter.

Evan Goodman (4G) and William Russello (4M) also like spring better.

Phil the Groundhog has predicted 103 forecasts for winter and just 17 for an early spring. Only some of these results have proved accurate.
