Pelham Olympics coming Saturday with events for K through fifth graders

GLOVER FIELD — The Pelham Summer Olympics will be held this Saturday (June 7) and consist of many events, including running races, relays, obstacle courses, long jump, high jump, football toss and water slide.  The Olympics is a day of fun and everybody wins.

This is all good news for Pelham kids grades Kindergarten through 5 who like to win prizes by running, jumping, kicking and throwing—and generally having a good time.

“The annual competition—sponsored by the Pelham Civic Association—has proven over the years to be the town’s most popular and well attended sports event for the younger kids,” the Civics said in a statement. Civics members organize each of the Olympic events. Civics “shepherds” escort the kids to the different competitions.

Pelham Civic Olympics Co-Chairmen Tom Imperato and Scott Brown said, “It’s a chance for Pelham kids to come together under one banner of FUN. It doesn’t matter what sport you prefer, the Olympics is a day of fun and games and stress-free competition. Everybody wins.”

The Olympics will run from 8:30 am to noon at the Glover Field Track.  There will be refreshments, t-shirts and plenty of medals.
