Girl Scout Troop 1666 goes to Ice Hutch to earn Ice Skating Patch
MOUNT VERNON — Girl Scout Troop 1666 went to the Ice Hutch during lunch on Jan. 26 to learn and practice ice skating.
Instructor Mrs. D. gave tips while skating. For example, she said to put your hands on your knees. Some scouts, including Peyton Rees, taught other girls how to improve at skating. During Peyton’s mini-lesson, she told the girls to “step, step, glide.”
“It was a very nice experience to go with the fifth grade girls,” said Kristina Roksvold, 5Gold. “The hardest part was going fast… I fell.”
All the girls improved in some way and enjoyed themselves.
“It was awesome,” said Daniella Cherner, 5V. “I finally got to go on my new skates. I went really fast and had fun.”
