Third grade to learn about rain forests in class and with visit to Botanical Gardens

THIRD GRADE CLASSROOMS — The third graders will be learning about rain forests and how they are important to the world. They will be doing this in the spring.

To learn more, they’re going to the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx and doing Powerpoint presentations.

R.J. Radonis, who once went to Costa Rico on a family trip, is “excited to learn about the rain forest because I want to know more about it.”

The students will mostly study plants, trees and the soil of the rain forest. They will also learn about how the forests are being cut down and how to save them.

Tyler Chang, a fourth grader, said of doing the project last year that he ”liked to go to the Botanical Garden even though he already went” before.
