Fourth and fifth grade buddies work together (from our June print edition)

COLONIAL — Fourth and fifth grade relationships are looking pretty good. In Colonial, the fourth and fifth graders are buddies, and most people say they like the system that pairs them with a friend.

The fourth-fifth grade buddy system is where the fourth and fifth graders each get a buddy. Then they work together on certain activities.

Alex Dolen (4G) said, “I like it because we get to interact with older people.”

“I don’t really think the idea is pretty great because they’re pretty different,” said Julian Matteoni (4G).

Eamon Loughman (4G) disagreed with that opinion. He said, “It’s fine.”

“They are pretty good,” said David Forte (5H). “I like my buddies.”

Luke Dolan (4G) said, “I like my buddy. He’s nice.”

“I feel happy because I have a fifth-grade buddy,” said Vijay Ranganathan (4G). “What I don’t like is the fifth and fourth grade buddies don’t get to spend a lot of time together.”

Camden White (4G) said the fourth and fifth grade buddy system is “okay because we can make friends with our buddies.”

Eamon Brennan (4M) said, “It’s okay. I can see why they would keep it, but its fourth and fifth grade, so there isn’t that much of a difference.”
