Fourth grade students start band after selecting instruments last year

COLONIAL LIBRARY — The fourth graders are excited to be starting band this year.

Last year, when they were in third grade, each student selected their top three instruments to play. Then they got to see and blow into their choices and, the teacher chose one of the top three instruments for each student to play. This year, the fourth graders started in band.

“It’s a family tradition, and it sounded cool,” said Maggie Reid (4G), who plays the flute.

This year, band has a new teacher, Andrew Dolgon. Students say they like him a lot, and he is really nice. Band students say they have learned a lot so far.

“When I was looking through the list, the other instruments looked hard, and I thought trumpet would be fun,” said Jean English (4C).
