The kids from Colonial school are very excited for D.A.R.E graduation. One person from each 5th grade class at Hutch and Colonial gets picked to speak in front of all the 5th grade classes from Hutchinson Elementary and Colonial Elementary school . It explains how they have learned to make good decisions in hard times. Everyone has to write an essay in order to graduate, but only one person from each 5th grade class gets picked. D.A.R.E stands for Drug, Abuse, Resistance, and Education. D.A.R.E is runned by a police officer, Sergeant Mo.
At our D.A.R.E. graduation all of the fifth graders will get a special D.A.R.E. T-shirt. Everyone graduating will write an essay and the best essay will be read in front of the parents at the graduation.
Everyone is really excited to be graduating from D.A.R.E. Emijia from 5P said, “ I really want to graduate and have a good essay.” Averey from 5S said, “ I think it is exciting that kids get to read their essays about what they learned from D.A.R.E.” Everyone from both 5P and 5S also wants to thank Sargent Mo, our D.A.R.E officer for an amazing program.
The upcoming fourth graders want to learn more about this and are excited to learn about difficult situations. Ben from 4M says, “It’s a good experience for people to learn about good decision making and I want to learn more about it.”
