Colonial school celebrated Black History Month with an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance.

The ensemble began with drummers beating on their Djembe drums. They asked for volunteers to help follow the beats. We learned a dance called the koko which in South Africa they would do after they have a good fish harvest. Also, we learned hip hop dances. We did some cool moves!

Many kids enjoyed the performance. Emilija Stankunas from 4G said, “I really liked the drums and it was really fun!”
