Toronto Maple Leafs Finally Break the Curse

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the three time stanley cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tampa Bay blew out the Maple Leafs 7-3 with Ryan O’Reilly scoring his first playoff goal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With this loss, the Lightning are now leading the series 1-0. The game was in Toronto, also where game 2 will be played because the Leafs are the second seed and the lightning are the third. The Toronto Maple Leafs won their last game of the regular season against the New York Rangers winning 3-2. The Rangers scored with 1.2 seconds left on the clock but Toronto reviewed the goal and they saw a kicking motion which meant it was an illegal goal.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are known for their first round curse. It has been 19 years since the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to advance to the second round. The series went to 6 games and the 6th was a thriller; it was tied 1-1 at the end of the third period. Which means it went to overtime if the maple leaves score they break the curse if the lightning score they will force a game 7 and late Tavares scored to win the game and the maple leaves broke the 19 year curse.

Congrats to Toronto!
