2023 just began and there already have been many exciting sports events and moments. Here are some examples in no particular order. 

The Australian Open was a major tennis event that took place from January 19th through the 29th. The event was held in Melbourne, Australia. The Open is the first of the four Grand Slams. Novak Djokovic won the 2023 Australian Open.

The Winter X games took place from January 27th through the 29th in Aspen, Colorado. The X games is an extreme sport competition. Athletes from around the world competed for the Gold, Silver and Bronze.

The Alpine World Ski Championships is a Skiing tournament that took place February 16th through the 19th in Courchevel-Méribel, France. Many Skiers from around the world competed for the Gold, Silver and Bronze. USA won Gold, Norway won Silver, and Canada won Bronze.

The Super Bowl was the most watched sports event in 2023 so far and probably the most talked about too. The Super Bowl took place in Glendale, Arizona on February 12th. The Philadelphia Eagles played the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs ended up winning 38-35.

The Daytona 500 kicked off on February 19th at Daytona Beach, FL. The Daytona 500 is the most important race of the year. Rickey Stenhouse Jr celebrated his 8th career Nascar victory and first Daytona 500 win after a 3 hour race 530 miles and 212 laps.
