In P.E the fifth graders are finishing up their field hockey unit. In the beginning of the unit Mrs. Bagwell picked 3 captains for each class. Each team would play a different team every class. The teams are The Rubber Duckies, the Golden Ducks, the Destroyers, the Pepperoni Pizzas, Winter Wonders, the Mini Muffins, Phoenixes, the Goal Getters, and the Hockey Hyenas. The teams in the finals are the Pepperoni Pizzas, the Phoenixes and the Rubber Duckies.
The first game was the Rubber Duckies v.s the Pepperoni Pizzas. The Rubber Duckies won 4-1. The final game was the Rubber Duckies with Amelia as captain, Emilia, William I, Natalie, and Mathis v.s the Phoenixes with Vivi as the captain William M, Kate, Conner, and Idris. The Phoenixes were undefeated meaning they hadn’t lost a single game. The Rubber Duckies won 3-0.
You play field hockey by hitting a hard plastic or rubber ball with a stick. You can only hit with one side of the stick. In our games we always had to wear shin guards and goggles but those are not mandatory but recommended. You have two goals on each side of the field or room. You have one goalie who can use their feet but can not play on the floor. Which means your body can not be on the floor except of course your feet. The game is 10 minutes long and whoever gets the most goals is the winner. There you go, you know how to play field hockey now.
We hope to see you at the next game!
